I absolutely love this pencil sharpener. It takes 'AA" batteries, and it works perfectly. Sharpens my and my daughters pencils to perfection. Didn't break any points... We already have a few pencil sharpeners arpund the house, one that was electric and a few manuals, this I feel is the safest for my 6 year old to have in her room being that it operates on batteries and she can toss the pencil shavings on her own.
